Ciro John Albano

March 2,1948 – January 7, 2015

Ciro, affectionately known as “Zeke” in high school, was somewhat shy. Although around a select few classmates, he was just the opposite, a talker. Despite multiple disabilities, Ciro graduated from University of Missouri at St. Louis with a B.S. in Asian history. He was completely blind by this time; text books were not available on talking- books or in braille, but with a hired reader he completed his degree requirements and was able to take all his tests orally. He went on to acquire a post graduate degree M.S. from University of Arkansas in social work with emphasis on mobility training with the handicapped.

Unfortunately, his medical problems worsened and by the time he was in his 30’s he was pretty much housebound. Because of his isolation he became a licensed ham radio operator and developed close friendships with other ham operators.

I think of my brother as a “saint.” He never complained about his physical disabilities or said “God, why me?” He was always cheerful, loving and upbeat! He was very religious, and in his last years of his life, was able to attend daily mass and communion at Nazareth Living Center where he was known as “C.” He is the best example of when life deals you lemons you make lemonade. Rest In Peace my twin brother! Love you always! Candy
