October 21, 1948 – May 17, 2016
Eric Wagner was born of German Catholic stock and grew up in the country south of Festus. His oratorical skills grew and shone during his high school days. He and a few fellow classmates received their college education at Kansas City area universities. Eric’s first real job was with the National Labor Relations Board, where his progressive views and interest in government were fulfilled. He later worked in other labor relations positions.
During the 1990s Eric expanded his vocational pursuits into mortgage financing and was an early proponent of the internet and all of its possibilities. But more importantly he found Karen. They became soulmates and shared all that life offered, especially a host of friends in Johnson County. His culinary avocation produced an award in the Jack Daniels Open and a grilling wagon that resembled a miniature version of a locomotive. He returned to his farming roots and built a collection of animals, including a Clydesdale. Abby, the basset hound, also found a home with Eric and Karen. Karen passed in 2007 leaving a hole in his heart. Eric was looking forward to attending his 50th high school reunion but he didn’t make it because he was reunited with Karen six months beforehand.
