FAQs

“Why should my child attend St. Pius X High School?”

Few schools have the feeling of family which permeates St. Pius X High School. The administration, faculty, and staff really care. Ask any student or parent; your student will get a challenging, meaningful and spiritual education. Many schools pay a lot of attention to the top students in each grade.  At St. Pius X, ALL students receive personal attention and it is expected everyone will succeed in college.

“How will my child get to and from school or sporting events/practices?”

St. Pius X High School students come from all over Jefferson County, south St. Louis County, Ste. Genevieve County and other areas. If you are need of assistance with rides to and from school or events, we can usually help. The main office can provide you with a list of students who live in your zip code. In addition, there is a St. Pius X shuttle traveling to and from Immaculate Conception parish in Arnold with a stop at St. Joseph parish in Imperial before and after school every day.

“It’s such a small school. Is there really much to offer?”

St. Pius X High School is accredited by AdvancED and is a college preparatory school. Academically, there is no question about the quality of education the school provides. The well-rounded curriculum focuses on mind, body, and spirit. Each grade level experiences spirituality days which include team building exercises. There are many leadership opportunities for students, including the Junior Mentoring Program, Student Ambassadors, and Student Council. Our college counselor arranges for over 70 colleges to visit each year in order to find the best fit for each student. St. Pius X High School offers 38 college credit hours available through SLU and UMSL, and many of our graduates enter college as a sophomore - another great return on your investment, saving the student and parents’ time and money.

“We are not Catholic. Will my child be out of place?”

While St. Pius X High School is proud to be a Catholic school, the subject matter covered in the curriculum bridges all faiths. As a Catholic school, we are able to provide a safe and mentoring learning environment.

“How will St. Pius X High School help my child grow in his/her faith?”

This growth is fostered in a myriad of ways. There are numerous opportunities to plan, attend and participate in Mass. We also begin each class period with prayer. An all-school Mass occurs on special occasions throughout the year, averaging once per month, and there is a Mass during part of the lunch hour every Thursday. There is time for Eucharistic adoration, reconciliation and the chapel is always available for prayer and meditation. Each class has opportunities every school year to attend retreats, spirituality days and days of prayer. Service to the community is a requirement for graduation.

“My child likes the arts. What are the arts programs like?”

The arts are alive at St. Pius X! Paintings and works of sculpture are displayed throughout the hallways. You can hear the choir singing and the band playing during the day. Several teachers incorporate music into the classroom. There are many opportunities for participation in theatre productions both on stage and behind the scenes. We expect our students to experience and appreciate the arts.
