Gary grew up in Arnold, MO. attending Immaculate Conception grade school before St. Pius. Gary was larger than most of us and this along with his athletic ability enabled him to excel in CYC sports for the Immaculate Conception grade school teams, and especially for the St. Pius football and basketball teams. Although he was a wicked lineman in football, he protected his quarterback well. He was really a gentle, caring man. As an adult, Gary, his wife Ellen, 3 children and 4 step children lived in South St. Louis County where he was able to continue his love of sports as an ardent swimmer. He was loved by all. His smile and enthusiasm for life is missed.
