Melissa Nicole Hoyt-Nelson

Our beloved daughter was tragically taken from us following a traffic accident on November 27th in Tampa, Florida where she resided. She is now in heaven with the Lord and her other family who went before her, all of whom she loved. Our angel will now look over those of us that loved her so much and will one day join her in eternity.

Melissa was born March 27, 1981 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Suzannah Hoyt. She attended school in Red Wing, Minnesota, West Lafayette, Indiana and graduated from St. Pius High School in Festus, Missouri. While she attended and graduated cosmetology school in Hastings, Minnesota she resided with her father and step-mother in Cannon Falls.

She married Dallas Nelson in her dream wedding on the beach in Charlotte, South Carolina. They were blessed with a daughter, Dallas Amira, who was always at her mother's side.  While their marriage ended recently, Dallas and Melissa remained close to raise their daughter together.

Melissa is survived by her former husband and daughter of Tampa, Florida. Her father and loved step-mother, William an Debra Hoyt of Cannon Falls, mother Suzannah Hoyt, sister and best friend Andrea Hoyt-Anderson, and brother-in-law Peter Anderson all of Eagan. Step-sister Tara Jeanetta, Duluth and step-brother Michael Bailey, Minneapolis, and many nephews and nieces.

A lover of all animals, she provided her father and step-mother with dogs Lucky and Riley.

Funeral arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home in Duluth, Minnesota.

Additional memories
from sister - Annie Hoyt, '97
St. Pius was a great and safe place to be a kid. Missy thrived in her time there with her friends, clubs and cheerleading. Although Missy didn't like school work, she loved school and had a soft spot for her teachers, Msr. Eichor and Mr. Taylor. Its hard to pick one memory to share about your sister, but many of my favorites with her were during our time at PiHi.
