Donald Alcott

Donald H. Alcott, 76, of Fort Worth, TX, passed peacefully on October 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born in St. Louis, MO, the son of Donald and Selma (Stolzer) Alcott. He graduated from St. Pius X Catholic High School in Festus, MO, and Jefferson College, in Hillsboro, MO. In 1969, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda (Scaggs) Alcott, in Herculaneum, MO. Their two children, Cindy and Steve, fondly remember Don as a loving and devoted father and grandfather who provided a foundation of support, encouragement, and guidance.

Don was always active in his community. He enjoyed planning and attending events during his tenure as member and officer of the local and regional chapters of the Jaycees, as a member of both the Bolingbrook Grey Core and Civic and Cultural Affairs Committee, and as an elected Trustee for the Village of Bolingbrook. He was involved in local political campaigns, a T-ball coach for his son’s team, a member of the Band Boosters, and held office for his local homeowners associations. He received recognition and numerous awards and honors for his efforts.

In his free time, Don could be found on the golf course, fishing, playing poker with friends, watching football, reading, and on bowling leagues with Linda. He was skilled at woodworking and carpentry and made numerous additions and improvements to their homes. Don enjoyed being social, loved a good laugh, took pride in helping his community, and cherished the many friendships he made throughout the years.

Preceding in death are daughter, Patricia Ann Alcott; parents, Donald Alcott and Selma (Stolzer) Alcott Braun; sister, Janet Leitterman; step-brother, Robert (the late Barbara) Braun; fathers-in-law, Harold Scaggs and Leroy Williams; brother-in-law, Blake Williams; and nephew, Shay Leitterman.

Remaining to cherish Don’s memory are his wife, Linda (Scaggs) Alcott of Fort Worth, TX; children, Cynthia (H. Matthew) Aldridge of Joliet, IL, and Steven (Melissa Modgling) Alcott of Fort Worth, TX; grandsons, Connor Alcott and Cooper Alcott of Fort Worth, TX; brother, James (Janet) Alcott of Festus, MO, sisters, Kathleen (the late Michael Keener) Johns of Middletown, OH and Joan (Michael) Aubuchon of Mountain Home, AR; mother-in-law, Marian Williams of Fort Worth, TX; brother-in-law, Mark Leitterman of Festus, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 25, 2024 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, MO, officiated by Mr. Michael Schulz. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery in Herculaneum, MO.
