Janet Marie Leitterman, 70, of Festus died March 25, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Leitterman was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being a “YaYa.” She will be remembered for her infectious laugh and always saying “have the best day of your life.” Born Sept. 28, 1953, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Selma Elizabeth (Stolzer) Alcott-Braun and Donald Alcott.
She is survived by her husband: Mark “Jack” Leitterman of Festus; two sons: Matthew (Kasey) Leitterman of Louisville, Ky., and Nicolas (Brianne) Leitterman of Herculaneum; two brothers: Donald (Linda) Alcott of Keller, Texas, and James (Janet) Alcott of Festus; two sisters: Kathy (the late Michael Keener) Johns of Middletown, Ohio, and Joan (Mike) Aubuchon of Mountain Home, Ark.; and six grandchildren: Ava Leitterman, Addison Leitterman, Amelia Leitterman, Kylie Leitterman, Nora Leitterman and Carson Leitterman.
She was preceded in death by a son: Shay Scott Leitterman; a stepbrother: Robert (the late Barb) Braun; and a brother-in-law: Blake Williams.
Memorial gathering is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Michael Coleman. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Vincent DePaul Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
