Ruth Ann Meyer, 78, of Festus died May 8, 2024, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis County. Ms. Meyer was the church secretary for Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 50 years. She also served as a eucharistic minister at the church. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was an avid bowler and had accomplished a 300-game. She enjoyed spending time with classmates and her nieces and nephews. Born July 22, 1945, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Catherine Elizabeth (Huene) and John George Meyer Sr.
She is survived by six siblings: John G. (Helen) Meyer Jr. of Festus, Donnell L. (the late Ethel) Meyer of Festus, Dean R. (Alice) Meyer of Warrenton, Patricia (Mike) McMillen of Stayton, Ore., Mary (Jim) Peterein of Festus, and Geralyn J. (Charles) Prior of De Soto; and many other family members.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: Alvin J. (Dorothy survives of Festus) Meyer, Norma J. Hunter and Betty (the late Eldon) Eaker.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June. 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Memorial Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June. 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, in Crystal City, officiated by Father Stephen Lian. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
